Nun Katherine is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of Indiana. She began her work as a counselor in 1984 on the social services staff of the Raphael House Family Shelter in San Francisco. In 1990 she left to devote herself to spiritual development as a nun in the Eastern Orthodox Christian tradition, moving to Indianapolis in 1992 to lead a small community of nuns. In 2003 she enrolled in a counseling program at Christian Theological Seminary (CTS) in Indianapolis; her professional training included a chaplaincy internship at Methodist Hospital, volunteer pastoral counseling with adolescent girls at the Indianapolis Juvenile Correctional Facility, as well as individual, couples, and family therapy at the CTS Counseling Center. She graduated in 2008 with the degree of Master of Arts in Pastoral Care and Counseling, summa cum laude. For a number of years she has researched and presented on topics in psychotherapy and the teachings of the Early Church. These topics include anger, anxiety, and attachment.
She has participated in Indiana Psychoanalytic Society study groups for work with trauma and dissociation. She also has presented at the following professional events:

- International Orthodox Psychotherapy Conference
She is a member of the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA) and is working toward certification in EMDR therapy.
